How do I get started?

What does NuevaCare do?

We provide non-medical home care services to the seniors and those who need assistance with their activities of daily living. Since our services are non-medical they are not covered by Medicare and therefore are usually paid by the client or sometimes by long term care insurance.

How many hours can I get help from NuevaCare?

We can provide you with as many or as few hours of help as you need. The hours are scheduled entirely based on your situation. Our minimum is 4 hours per visit all the way up to 24/7 care.

What kind of services do you provide?

NuevaCare provides non-medical home care services to residents of San Francisco Bay Area. Our services include but are not limited to; medication reminders, respite care, grocery shopping, errands & household duties, transportation, supervised walking and fall prevention, light housekeeping, laundry/ironing & changing bed linens, socialization & companionship, Alzheimer’s/dementia support, ambulation assistance, incontinence support, bathing & grooming, supervision, meal planning & preparation, hygiene & dressing assistance.

Are your caregivers trained?

Yes, our caregivers are trained and certified in partnership with aQuire, an industry-leading training solutions company. There are 14 essential hours of training that cover basic caregiver duties. These courses create a solid skill set for our caregivers and give them the confidence they need to provide for the individuals in their care. Our courses include Becoming a Caregiver, Duties of a Caregiver, Emergency First Aid, Infection Control, Promoting and Maintaining Good Mobility, Elimination and Toileting, Providing Personal Care & Instrumental Activities of Daily Living.

Where do you provide services?

Our main office is in San mateo, CA. We provide our services in the following cities; Atherton, Belmont, Brisbane, Burlingame, Daly City, Foster City, Half Moon Bay, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Millbrae, Pacifica, Palo Alto, Portola Valley, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Mateo, South San Francisco, Woodside.

Are your caregivers your employees?

Yes, our caregivers are our employees and not contractors. We pay for their salaries and federal & state tax deductions. They are also fully bonded and insured. This way you and your family are fully protected from any potential liabilities that may arise from someone working at your home.

Are your caregivers insured and bonded?

Yes. We provide liability and non-owned auto insurance coverage for your safety. Our caregivers are also covered by workers compensation insurance just in case something happens to them while they are working for you in your home.

Will I have a choice to pick my caregiver?

Yes. With our proprietary matching system, we do our best to take the guesswork out of selecting a caregiver for you. The knowledge of our staff combined with the capability of our matching software to pick the best caregiver for your specific needs will assure that you get the right caregiver. However, if for any reason you are not satisfied with a particular placement all you have to do is contact us and we are always able to find a new caregiver for you.

Are your services available for the elderly in nursing homes or assisted living facilities?

Yes, we provide services wherever our clients reside.

What happens if my caregiver is sick or unavailable?

It’s not a problem. We have multiple employees who can meet your care needs. If one of our caregivers is sick or unavailable, another is normally available.

Can family members see up to the minute information about their loved one’s care?

NuevaCare provides secure online access to designated family members/friends to be able to log-in and view in real time the status of their loved one’s care. This innovative technology which sets us apart from other home care agencies will allow us to keep families involved and informed through up to the minute updates which can be accessed from any device. This service is provided at no extra cost to you.

Who pays the caregiver – me or you?

NuevaCare handles the payroll, taxes, insurance and administrative responsibilities. You will never be asked to pay any of our caregivers any additional fees. If a request is made by any caregiver to be paid directly you must contact our office immediately.

Can I change the schedule if I have outside appointments?

Yes, changes are easily accommodated by contacting our office.

Can NuevaCare help with medications?

NuevaCare caregivers can only help you with medication reminders. Our caregivers are not allowed to administer any medications.

How much do you charge for your services?

We provide a custom care plan specific to each client’s needs and budget. Factors that help determine the exact cost are number of hours of care per week and the level of home care services received. Our normal hourly charge is between $24-$28 per hour. Our 24×7 rates start at $480 per 24 hours. Our services are billed on a weekly basis. What is an in-home assessment?

An in-home assessment is a free visit from one of our care managers to your home to evaluate the condition of the client that we have to provide care for. During this visit which usually takes between 30-45 minutes we try to learn as much as possible about your needs and how we can best match a caregiver that would help you with those needs. We also do a safety check to make sure that the household is safe for the condition of the person that needs care and we may make recommendations on how to make the surroundings safer.

Do I need to sign a contract?

No, we do not make you sign any long term contracts. However, you do have to sign a service agreement which describes the details of our responsibilities and obligations.
